E-CO₂ Project

The E-CO₂ assessment and its software is designed to raise awareness on farm of the potential savings that could be made in many cases to reduce energy and water usage, the software will also calculate the value of nutrients, in terms of potential financial value of the slurry in store, and gives a guide as to how a farm (if they are within a NVZ area), is likely to be affected by the new NVZ legislation. These elements are unique to CMS UK and Kite Consulting.

Together with the above direct benefits to the farm, the software and assessment will calculate the carbon footprint of the farm.

The more efficient a farm is, the lower the carbon footprint will be, the report generated will raise awareness and give a better understanding of how the farm may be able to reduce it’s carbon footprint, in many cases a few simple actions can be taken to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of a the herd.

Most of these are linked with improving efficiency and output levels, and reducing waste. We estimate that in nearly all cases, these actions will directly benefit the farmer from a financial point of view through improved business efficiency.

Our pilot schemes to date, have been received well, with the majority of farms seeing £100’s (ranging from a few £100’s to many £1,000’s savings) in potential savings with payback on investment seen in months rather than years, and in many cases, investment wasn’t required, rather a change in management policy.
