Agricultural BackgroundCMS UK has a strong agricultural base and was set up in 1997 by the now Managing Director Mr Peter Darlington, along with his Co-Director Nicola Darlington. The Darlington's have been dairy farming at Spring Farm for five generations; Peter's great grand father and grand parents bought Spring Farm in 1947. In setting up CMS UK and converting the old dairy, cow shippon and farm buildings, Peter and Nicola anticipated other opportunities and have fully embraced the principal of farm diversification. The redundant shippon was a perfect object for agricultural diversification, so vigorously encouraged at the time by the Government and EU funding. CMS UK's growth came as a result of working closely with clients to train and provide Farm Assurance Assessors, mainly for dairy and livestock farms. Farm assurance assessments were carried out by CMS UK on almost 7000 dairy farms; approximately 5000 of which were inspected each year. In addition, farm assurance assessments were conducted on approximately 3500 beef and lamb farms. The Farm Assessment side of the CMS UK business was sold in 2008, in order to concentrate on Energy & Carbon Assessments. CMS UK has expanded once more to offer a technical specialist consultancy on renewable energy generation and carbon management to all sectors of industry.
