Wind Turbine Planning Applications

CMS UK have a specialist team dedicated to preparing planning applications for Wind Turbines (small to medium scale on 18 to 50 metre towers) for farms and rural businesses. This can be for single or for multiple turbine projects depending on the client requirements. The turbines are manufactured by Gaia, Endurance, Enercon Emergya Wind Technologies (EWT), Proven or Vestas and they range in size from 11kW to 500kW capacity for each turbine.

Wind turbine planning applications submitted by CMS UK have been approved for sites across the UK including Devon, Cornwall, Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Yorkshire, Suffolk and North Wales. Many of these turbines have been installed and are now fully operational and others will be installed shortly. CMS UK is currently dealing with wind turbine planning applications from north to south - from the Scottish Borders, through the North West of England, the West and East Midlands and the South West Region, as well as North and Mid-Wales.

CMS UK provides a cost effective planning service for anyone wishing to install a wind turbine to reduce their energy bills and take advantage of 'Feed in Tariffs' for renewable energy projects, as well as selling any surplus electric into the National Grid.

CMS UK are now very familiar with preparing these wind turbine planning applications and dealing with issues raised by the Local Planning Authority such as Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, Site Access, Noise and Ecology. The planning service includes a site meeting to explain the process and discuss the project with the client. We would then carry out pre-application checks and start preparing the Supporting Planning Statement, Design & Access Statement and all the documentation required by the Local Planning Authority. Once the application has been submitted we track it through the planning process to ensure any concerns raised by the Planning Officer are addressed so that the application has the highest probability of being approved.

Example Projects

CMS UK is involved with a number of wind turbine projects on farms which have now been installed. One such project is the 50kW Endurance E-3120 wind turbine in Devon which was commissioned in July 2010.

CMS UK is involved in obtaining planning approval for several other similar projects and we are practicing what we preach, at our Spring Farm Business Centre site near Crewe. We already have two Gaia-Wind 133 - 11kW wind turbines on 18m towers installed in 2010 and also an Endurance E-3120 - 50kW capacity wind turbine on a 25 metre tower was installed in 2011. All three turbines at Spring Farm are producing good results.
